Acupuncture

Acupuncture includes inserting needles into acu-points on the body as well as non-insertive techniques such as Moxibustion (burning dried mugwort leaf-wool), Teishin (Japanese tool based on traditional descriptions), and more. Points can also be stimulated by the addition of small impulses of electricity, which can be exceptionally helpful in certain cases.

Manual Therapy

East Asian body work includes Tuina (Chinese channel massage), Shiatsu (Japanese channel and connective tissue massage), Sotai (Japanese muscular movement therapy), Cupping (suction cups), and Gua Sha (Chinese tool for stroking the skin). We also offer CranioSacral and other soft-tissue therapies.

Herbal medicine

Healing with herbal formulations has a very long history in Chinese Medicine, tracing its practice back to some of the oldest Chinese texts in existence (Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing & Shang Han Lun, etc.). The practice has evolved over the centuries to address ever changing needs, and modern Chinese medical herbalism has a far-reaching ability to help in the healing process.

Nutritional Counseling

Our philosophy is that nutritional advice needs to be unique for each patient, and nutritional needs may change over time. We focus on implementing dietary changes that can be maintained and enjoyed over long periods of time, so that they might have a lasting effect on improving your health.

Gentle Techniques

From Teishin (non-insertive Japanese “needle”) to acu-lasers, to tuning forks, to CranioSacral & Yin-Tuina (gentle body work techniques), we have many safe and effective treatment options that are gentle enough for even the most sensitive patients. Needle insertion is not necessary, though we also offer extremely thin needle options.

Lifestyle Counseling

Exercises, habits, practices, explorations, rituals, and more can be a substantial part of your healing process. We focus on time tested methods of exercise, mindfulness, and self-cultivation such as Qigong (Chi Gong), Taiji (Tai Chi), Sitting mediation, journaling exercises, time in Nature, and more.

Acute

Musculoskeletal tension, pain, and injuries, including surgeries and scar tissue

Cold/Flu: There are great methods for reducing the duration and severity of common transmissible respiratory diseases including herbal medicines, acupuncture, moxibustion, and manual therapies.

Root Vs Branch

Western diagnoses are defined by disease symptoms, which we view as the branches, whereas Chinese (East Asian) Medicine diagnoses are defined by the underlying discord that we view as the root cause of disease.
